The BIDS Story

Performa has a 30 year track record of delivering budgeting and planning solutions to the corporate and government sector.

In 2003 Performa realized that there were common requirements in the solutions that it had developed for government organizations that were not available in any existing CPM or accounting products. A series of workshops were conducted with customers and key stakeholders and the BIDS concept was born.

Performa realized that each customer has unique processes and works under different legislative requirements and therefore, to be effective, BIDS needed to allow flexibility in choice of processes, forms, business rules and data. This flexibility became a key feature of the BIDS product.

With funding assistance from AusIndustry, development of BIDS commenced in mid-2004 based on both Performa’s experience implementing public sector and corporate budgeting solutions and the experience of the team in creating enterprise class applications for large commercial organizations.

In March 2005 the first version of BIDS was released and later in 2005 this version went live managing the cash drawdown and approval processes at the Department of Finance and Administration in Australia. BIDS has continued to evolve and in 2006 the major portions of the Australian Budget were formulated using the CBMS BIDS application.

During 2006 Performa commenced the international sales and marketing of BIDS focused on providing budget management solutions for complex corporates and government organizations at federal, state, local and department levels.

BIDS is now in its 3rd major release and is used by federal, state and local governments and agencies around the world for budgeting and planning solutions
